As we enter 2025 – the Year of the Snake (Ất Tỵ), many brands have released uniquely styled Tet calendars, ranging from nostalgic folk aesthetics to modern experiential formats. Amid this creative wave, Tài Ký has chosen a different direction: a refined bloc calendar design focused on symbolism and practical usability.
Upon receiving the brief from Tài Ký, the design team at Hoa Đất Agency was entrusted with creating the brand's 2025 bloc calendar with a clear spirit: modern minimalism blended with Vietnamese Tet symbolism, designed to be approachable, warm, and suitable for a broad public audience.
As 2025 marks the Year of the Snake – a symbolic creature in Eastern culture – the team developed a comprehensive concept centered around the snake, infused with a royal blue color palette, expressive typography, and a clean, balanced layout, delivering a product that feels both timeless and contemporary.
Royal Blue Palette – A Refreshing Break from the Red-Gold Tet Norm

While many Tet calendars lean into warm color palettes like crimson red, clay orange, or gold to express traditional festive vibes (e.g., Marou's 2024 calendar featuring cocoa-infused gold tones, or Rice Creative's "Bếp Tết" calendar in deep red), Tài Ký’s 2025 bloc calendar boldly adopts royal blue as the primary backdrop.
Why Royal Blue?
- A color symbolizing wisdom, calmness, and depth – resonating with the snake's traits of intellect and graceful movement.
- Visually adaptable for modern living spaces – from home desks to office reception areas.
- The background is layered with abstract repeated patterns, subtly inspired by Indochine vintage motifs, adding depth and cultural texture.
The Snake Reimagined – A More Expressive and Relatable Mascot
The snake – zodiac animal of 2025 – is often associated with mystique and solemnity, which may feel distant to mass audiences. However, the Hoa Đất design team creatively reinterpreted it into a joyful, friendly character, without losing its ceremonial feel.
Visual Details:
- Expressive eyes and a soft smile, making the character approachable across demographics – from families to workplace environments.
- A traditional-inspired festival headpiece, referencing tuồng or lion dance headwear – festive yet modern.
- Flowing golden smoke trails rendered in layered vector illustration techniques – reminiscent of premium visual styles from top studios like Tofu Studio or Le Hoang Studio.
Typography & Layout – When Type is More Than Just Words

The “2025” numerals were designed in a modular retro style, with rounded edges creating a dynamic, flowing feel. The font echoes a blend of Art Deco and modernism, similar to woodblock-style calendars from collaborations like TiredCity x Vụn Art.
The phrase “Chúc Mừng Năm Mới” (Happy New Year) is set vertically and symmetrically, reminiscent of traditional signboards or old town lanterns, creating an elegant visual rhythm.
Gold Gradient Technique:
- A metallic gold gradient was used to mimic the effect of foil stamping, offering a premium look.
- This contrast with the blue background enhances legibility and luxury, while staying true to Tet visuals.
Closing Thoughts: A Calendar is More Than a Date Tracker – It’s Cultural Space
The Tài Ký 2025 bloc calendar design represents a new wave of Vietnamese contemporary creativity – one that respects tradition while mastering visual storytelling and graphic techniques.
Whether you're a brand seeking elegant year-end gifts or a design enthusiast exploring local innovation, Tài Ký 2025 is a fine example of how a simple calendar can become a refined expression of culture, identity, and thoughtful design.
